Laura Ford exhibiting at The Artist's General Benevolent Institution (AGBI)

Laura Ford will be exhibiting her work Two Lions, 2016 in a group show at The Artist's General Benevolent Institution (AGBI) in London. The AGBI provides financial support to visual artists and their dependents in need who live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland and who cannot work or earn due to injury or illness.

Material Matters, curated by Abbie Griffiths, the exhibition also has works by William Cobbing, Blck Geezer, and Henry Moore. The exhibition aims to emphasize the profound significance of materials in contemporary art. It explores how the physical substance of art - its matter - not only shapes the form and function of artworks but also embodies meaning, cultural narratives, and emotional resonance.

Bringing together a diverse array of artist, Material Matters, highlights the vaast spectrum of materials used in creative practices today, from the traditional to the unconventional. As such, the exhibition also represents the breadth of artists and their practices that AGBI grant help to support.

This is the first time that Two Lions has been exhibited in the UK.

Material Matters is on from 3 October-5 December at 15 Churton Street, Pimlico, SW1V 2LY. You can learn more about AGBI on their website.
